4K Film Grain
Real Film Look. One easy Overlay.
4k film grain overlay can help you achieve the real film look. Filmic noise adds a pleasant, dynamic texture to your footage. It also combats some of the inherent problems that affect digital camera footage. Blocky digital noise is smoothed out by the wavy motion of course grain. This analog goodness also takes the edge of compressed video, easing out what would be otherwise over-sharp footage.
When you push contrast to noticeable levels, grain gives the impression that you shot on real film emulsion. For an old, weathered-film look, you can use our damaged film grain, which its a real 4k scan of damaged super 8 film, including light leaks, streaks, dust specks, and scratches. In short, film grain is a must-have tool for the artistic digital shooter.

Easy To Use
Whether you are a colorist, a visual effects artist, or a do-it-all indie filmmaker, film grain overlay can make your work a little easier. The products we offer are easy to use. You don’t need to know color grading or VFX to create the “real film” look. You simply import a grain plate into your video editor, lay it over your footage layer, and change the blend mode to overlay. Intensity of the grain effect can increased by boosting the grain overlay layer’s contrast and decreased by turning down the opacity of the layer.

Why is Our Grain is the Greatest?
We filmed, scanned, and rendered the film scans with the intention of producing pleasant, contrasty film grain. We also worked to ensure the overlays would preserves your footage’s luminance. Most other scanned film assets make the picture much lighter or darker when added. But us? We keep brightness intact.
We also designed our assets to blend subtly with footage without the need of adjusting contrast or opacity. However, these can be adjusted if you want to play with the grain’s intensity. Additionally, we created a number of 3D LUTs made to compliment our grain assets and give you truly old-school cinematic looks.
